One More Thing: Shane Ross finally arrives stateside

Shane Ross: quoted in US court proceedings
Shane Ross: quoted in US court proceedings

Normally, you only hear Shane Ross bellowing across the Dáil. Now, his words echo around the world of international banking. It must be a dream come true for the combative TD for Dublin South.

A bunch of vulture funds and other assorted Anglo creditors are trying to scupper IBRC's US court attempt to protect $1 billion of its assets from potential seizure. A filing to the Delaware court by lawyers for Anglo borrower John Flynn, who is in separate litigation with the bank, quotes The Word of Ross as it makes an argument for why the special liquidation of IBRC should not be recognised by the American system.

“Ireland is being humiliated. We’re being bounced into legislation. This is close to a fiasco,” the court filing quotes Ross as saying.

Heck, the lawyers even submit two exhibits of quotes from Ross to back up their arguments: his tweets, web articles, the whole lot.

Fame at last.
